Antonio Brown is set to appear in a Miami courtroom on Wednesday to accept a plea agreement that spares him incarceration in connection with an attempted murder case, his attorney confirmed.
Defense attorney Mark Eiglarsh has said Brown will plead no contest to aggravated assault and be sentenced to probation.
Additionally, the plea deal stipulates that adjudication will be withheld, meaning Brown will not be considered a convicted felon.
Had he been found guilty of the initial charge, Brown could have faced a prison term of up to 30 years.
Eiglarsh has said the agreement with prosecutors was too good to turn down.
According to the arrest warrant, the incident occurred on May 16, 2025, following a celebrity boxing match in Miami.
Brown is alleged to have taken a weapon from a security guard and fired two rounds at a man he had previously fought with.
The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated that a bullet grazed his neck during the altercation.
Brown has said on social media that he was defending himself from an attack and others were trying to steal jewelry from him.
Under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law, individuals are permitted to use deadly force if they reasonably believe they face death or serious injury, with no obligation to retreat.
Richard Cooper, who represents Nantambu, has called the plea deal a fair one.
He has said Nantambu forgives Brown and would not cooperate with law enforcement.
Brown, who is 38 years old, played 12 seasons in the NFL as an All-Pro wide receiver.
His final season in the league was 2021 with Tampa Bay, a tenure that included a Super Bowl victory alongside quarterback Tom Brady.
Throughout his career, which was largely defined by his time with Pittsburgh, Brown recorded 928 receptions for over 12,000 yards and produced 88 total touchdowns, encompassing punt returns and one pass.
Brown has dealt with several legal problems over the years, including incidents involving a truck driver, several domestic violence charges, failure to pay child support, and other incidents.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant in June 2025, he was extradited from Dubai in November 2025, a city where he has business interests.
